FAQ
The Most Frequently Asked Questions Are:
Do I have to be registered disabled or be a Hillingdon resident to be eligible to use the service?
No, the service is for anyone with a mobility problem, regardless of whether the problem is temporary or permanent and this applies to locals and visitors alike.
Is there a fee for using the service?
From 1 April 2008 we are asking all customers to pay an annual registration
fee of £8. This payment is to contribute towards the cost of insurance.
There is no set fee for daily hire but we do ask our customers to make
a donation when they use the equipment in order to cover maintenance
and repair costs for our vehicles. As a rough guide, on average our
customers tend to donate £1 per hour of useage.
How long can I borrow the equipment for during the day?
We are open from 9.15 am and need the equipment back by 4.30 pm - you
are welcome to borrow equipment for as long or short a time as you like
between these two times.
Where can I go using the equipment?
You can access the whole of Uxbridge town centre which includes both shopping centres, the Civic Centre and the local attractions including the park.
Is there anyone available to help me with my shopping?
We will always help you carry your shopping out to a car parked here on level 2.
If you require a shopping companion there is a member of staff available to accompany you for a maximum of two hours at certain times.
Click the assisted shop button on the home page for full details.
What happens if I want to borrow equipment for longer than one day or use it outside Uxbridge town centre.
Unfortunately we cannot provide powered equipment for this but you may borrow a manual wheelchair for a period of up to 6 weeks.
Click the holiday hire button on the home page for full details.
Do I need to book equipment?
Not necessarily, but if there is a scooter or wheelchair you particularly prefer it would be a good idea to ring us and reserve it.
Do I need to pay for parking?
Parking is free for all Shopmobility customers and blue badge holders.
