About Us
Hillingdon Shopmobility has been based in "The Chimes" since March 2001. The scheme has 22 electric scooters, 6 powerchairs, 20 manual wheelchairs and a 4 wheeled walker with a seat - all of which are becoming an increasingly common sight in and around Uxbridge town centre. Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9.15am and 4.30pm the service aims to give freedom and independence to anyone with limited mobility even if they are not registered as disabled. Shopmobility tries to cater for all its customers' needs - as well as the mobility equipment, customers can also borrow folding walking sticks and blankets. There is an assisted shop facility for unaccompanied wheelchair users and in addition to this, we offer escorts who will guide our customers who have sight impairment. Finally, Shopmobility is proud of the fact that some parts of the service operate even when the office is closed! There are special wheelchairs and small electric scooters available for holiday hire at a very reasonable charge. So go ahead and enjoy planning your next trip, either to Uxbridge town or farther afield. Existing customers tell us that the facility has literally "changed their lives" as they can get out and about and are no longer housebound. For some it is the first time in years that they have been able to shop independently.
If you would like more information about the service you can email us using the contact us button on the home page or give the office a call on 01895 271510. We are also very happy to visit local groups and societies to give talks and demonstrations of the service.
